Sealevel Construction, Inc., a leading civil-construction company based in Thibodaux, LA, has been featured in Metalforming Magazine for its innovative use of CNC pipe profiling technology. The article highlights how Sealevel has enhanced its fabrication processes with HGG’s ProCutter machines.
Originally a small public-works firm, Sealevel has grown into a turnkey civil-construction company serving industrial, municipal, and marine markets. As the company expanded into industrial facility projects, it saw the need to enhance its helical pile fabrication process. Initially relying on manual cutting methods, Sealevel encountered bottlenecks that slowed production and impacted precision.

Going from 45 minutes to 30 seconds
To overcome these challenges, the company invested in HGG’s CNC pipe profiling technology, starting with the ProCutter 600, which dramatically increased accuracy and efficiency. This advanced machine reduced cutting time from 45 minutes per pipe to just 30 seconds, allowing welders to focus on fit-up and assembly rather than rework. The ProCutter 600 quickly became the drumbeat of operations as featured in our case study filmed earlier at Sealevel Construction.
As demand for larger-diameter piles grew, Sealevel took another step forward by adding an HGG ProCutter 900 RB, capable of handling pipes up to 36 inches in diameter. This upgrade not only expanded their capabilities but also enhanced workplace safety by reducing forklift movement on the shop floor through automated material handling.
Finishing the job ahead of schedule
One of Sealevel’s first major projects using the our ProCutter 600 was for the Department of Energy’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve in Baton Rouge, LA. For this project, Sealevel fabricated and installed 60 16-in.-dia. helical piles, a task, says Glaze, that the firm could not have dreamed of completing without the use of the ProCutter 600. Without its new pipe cutting machine, he explains, the project would have gone on for months and months. Instead, the crew finished ahead of schedule and with minimal quality issues.
Sealevel’s investment in HGG’s cutting-edge technology has tripled its fabrication rate, streamlined operations, and positioned the company for continued success in high-volume pile production. Their feature in Metalforming Magazine is a testament to their commitment to innovation, efficiency, and quality.
