HGG is in full development! This is not only visible by the many new colleagues joining our team every month, but also by the vacancies. We talked to one of our newest team members, Jasper ten Hove – R&D/Software Engineer, to discover more about his motivation in his daily work and the reasons why he chose HGG.
Jasper joined HGG Profiling Specialist on November 15, 2023. How did you end up working at HGG?
My previous job I started from a side job and worked there for a total of over 6 years, the last 2 of which were full time. I was there setting up and developing a new plant and maintaining the existing plant. It was a small organization where I only had the manager and owner above me, so there was little prospect for growth. In addition, there was really no one internally who could train me substantively.
After the new factory with the new machines was completely built and installed, the biggest challenge for me was gone. After the summer vacations I decided to look around for a new challenge.
How do you start your job search?
Among other things, I saw a job opening with a luxury yacht builder and it got me thinking that there might be more fun jobs that would suit me better. This job posting really appealed to me because of my hobby in water sports. But at my previous job, I had seen an installation and erection of a new machine line, and those machines appealed to me more than the work I would be doing there.
From my past, I have also had previous contact with HGG at the time when I was looking for an internship. However, commuting was very difficult at the time. Therefore, I opted for another internship more nearby.
So why now to HGG 3D Profiling Specialist again?
After seeing the development with the new machine line at my previous job, the interest in developing machines/system had grown, which made me think of HGG again. So contacted again anyway. But the position I applied for was actually to replace someone with 15 years of experience who was retiring. Unfortunately, I was not this person, which made it seem like HGG would not be an option anyway.
HGG then discussed my CV internally and less than a week later they called to say that the team leader of R&D would like to see me again. The engineering team leader with whom I had had the first interview was very enthusiastic about me and had told his colleagues.
At this second interview there was an immediate click and for me the choice of HGG was quickly made!
What was decisive for you?
There were a number of issues because I had several applications pending. The opportunity for internal growth and to learn a lot internally were main reasons for me. The travel time here was a nice bonus.
Do expectations match reality?
The expectations and image with the organization match up pretty well. At HGG, things are just fine. There is a good structure and for the large organization that HGG is, the lines of communication with the managers are direct and short. I have the idea that if you do your job well, this is actually seen by the managers!
I am through my probationary period and HGG is also through the probationary period. I definitely like it from both sides. I am extremely happy that I chose HGG.
