The robot profile cutting line is a high performance plasma cutting line. Equipped with edge cleaning, marking and multiple CAD-CAM interfaces, the PCL is the most innovative and productive plasma cutting line.
The PCL Robot Profile Cutting Line seamlessly integrates an edge cleaning unit into the production line. It serves for removing paint from the feet of the stiffeners, which allows for faster welding while guaranteeing higher welding quality.
PCL plasma stiffener cutting is performed by a combination of both the gripper and the 6-axis robot, which makes on the fly measurement possible. The robot arm realizes high quality cuts.
Clever nesting routines allow for grouping of smaller parts in order to form a combined outfeed cycle. This minimizes any disruption of the robot while waiting for transversal unloading. Thanks to the PCL’s full slat belt, waiting time is eliminated.

Here is a selection of profiling shapes for realizing connections on stiffener profiles:
For end cuts of part ends.
In the web of a profile for crossing profiles.
For penetrations like rat holes for weight reduction.
Achieving fabrication efficiency and high throughput are key goals within the highly competitive cargo vessel fabrication market. Shipyards using traditional profile cutting methods experience difficulties in achieving those targets. The PCL Robotic Profile Cutting Line is a highly productive plasma stiffener cutting machine that is capable of processing all profiles for as many as 20 super tankers in only one year.
Industry application: plasma stiffener cutting for flat panel, double bottom constructions, subassemblies, bulkheads, webs, micro panel in LNG carriers, super tankers, container ships, chemical tankers, bulk carriers, RoRo vessels, ice breakers etc.
Naval ships are fabricated out of a large number of different stiffeners in size and length. Material handling, material sorting and part nesting are all extremely complex. With the PCL Robotic Profile Cutting Line, you can achieve more than 70% reduction in manpower with the same throughput, as compared to existing manual systems. In only two years you have full ROI.
Industry application: plasma stiffener cutting for flat panel, double bottom constructions, subassemblies, bulkheads, webs, micro panel in air craft carriers, patrol boats, cruisers, frigates, hospital ships etc.
In the demanding world of fabrication of mega yachts, flexibility is key for dealing with last minute changes. Consequently, when handling production batches of numerous short and small stiffeners of exotic materials, quality sometimes comes second. With PCL flexibility, the profile cutting machine easily handles extreme demands in material handling, deformation measurement and sorting and nesting routines.
Industry application: plasma stiffener cutting for flat panel, double bottom constructions, subassemblies, bulkheads, webs, micro panel in super yachts, mega yachts, sailing yachts, motor yachts etc.
Cruise ships are also characterised by an enormous volume and a variety of small and short stiffeners. Fabrication automation and automated profile cutting has been long adopted in these yards, because of strict requirements with respect to yard panel line integration. The key words here are part location tagging, pick-and-place cranes and cassettes positioning.
Industry application: plasma stiffener cutting for flat panel, double bottom constructions, subassemblies, bulkheads, webs, micro panel in cruise ships, cruise liners, passenger ships etc.
