‘I enjoy the balance between a nice challenge and travelling’

I started working at HGG in 2008 and I have worked as a Commissioning Engineer ever since. I assemble the HGG machines at our customers’ locations around the world, which means that I travel a lot. I believe my job is not for everyone, one should really enjoy travelling and being an independent worker. For me the combination between working at the HGG head quarters and travelling a lot is ideal.

What is it like to work at HGG?

It is quite a flat organization, there is hardly any hierarchy. It is always possible to walk into someone’s office directly and ask for a favor. Everyone is very easily approachable and respectful towards each other. During those 8 years I’ve worked for HGG so far I’ve never had the experience of not being able to approach someone if I needed them. This is simply great. Working for HGG can be also quite demanding. You are given a lot of freedom, but pro-activeness is required too. I am quite a workaholic myself. Basically you are given the opportunity to go as fast as you’d like to. Innovation and passion often go together at HGG. I’d say that we have passion for innovation!

Is HGG helping you to further develop your potential?

As long as you are proactive HGG gives you the opportunity to develop in a direction you are interested in. Luckily, I still find my work very exciting. I like working on brand new projects, such as prototypes. I am basically very comfortable with facing new challenging situations. The company is also demanding in a way, which means that you will be given the opportunity to reach your full potential.

What about HGG do you like most?

I enjoy the balance between a nice challenge and travelling. The balance between staying at the HGG head quarters and travelling is what I enjoy the most. It is not for everyone. One needs to enjoy travelling on a regular basis, just like I do, in order to be a successful commissioning engineer. What I also enjoy a great deal is HGG’s open communication culture and that everyone is very approachable.
