HGG cuts stinger for new Saipem ship
03.01.2012 13:50
With its length of over 330 meters (excl. stinger and helideck) Saipem’s latest ship – the Castorone – promises to be an impressive appearance. For this project, HGG has cut the complete construction of the stinger; a challenging project. After its completion, the ship will accommodate up to 702 persons. The total amount of work for this project was cutting more than 300 pipes, with varying diameters, wall thicknesses and length. With diameter ranging from 139,7 up to 1.800 mm, wall thicknesses up to 65 mm and lots of different cuts, HGG was the only partner (worldwide) to cut this specific job. One of the main reasons for choosing HGG was the fact that they could cut the eccentric tapered slots (for plates with a thickness of 400 mm) with ease and perfection. One of the critical success factors for this project. |
